What Are The Mysterious “Pyramids” Discovered In Antarctica?

Just when it seems like there's nothing new to discover, the earth reveals something unexpected.

While these changes are likely due to global climate shifts, curiosity is piqued by the mysterious pyramids spotted in Antarctica.

Conspiracy theorists claim these structures, visible on Google Earth, are hidden pyramids. However, geologists recognize them as mountains first identified by the British Antarctic Expedition between 1910 and 1913. They were labeled "The Pyramid" in geological surveys to keep their discovery secret.

Some people, upon reading these surveys, believed they had uncovered the truth about a hidden pyramid. Decades later, they now claim to have found a second pyramid (another mountain) at coordinates: 79°58’39.25?S 81°57’32.21?W.

Dr. Mitch Darcy, a geologist at the German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam, clarifies that the structure is clearly a mountain. He explains that the pyramid-shaped formations are part of the Ellsworth Mountains, a range over 400 km long, making rocky peaks above the ice unsurprising. The particular peak's shape is coincidental.

Other geologists agree, noting that the shape isn't unusual. By definition, it's a nunatak, a rocky peak protruding above a glacier or ice sheet. Its pyramid-like form doesn't imply human construction.

Pyramid-shaped peaks are common worldwide. Despite the South Pole's natural diversity and scientific interest, there's little reason to believe a secret base would be established there. Nonetheless, conspiracy theories persist and provide entertainment.

So, there's that.
